What is coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)?
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a respiratory illness that can spread from person to person. The virus that causes COVID-19 is a novel coronavirus that was first identified during an investigation into an outbreak in China.

How does COVID-19 spread?
The virus that causes COVID-19 is thought to spread mainly between people who are in close contact with one another through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

What are the symptoms of COVID-19?
Patients with COVID-19 have had mild to severe respiratory illness with symptoms of:

  • fever
  • cough
  • shortness of breath

How can I help protect myself?

People can help protect themselves from respiratory illness with everyday preventive actions.

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not

If you are sick, to keep from spreading respiratory illness to others, you should:
• Stay home when you are sick.
• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

WHAT IS ROSARY HOME HEALTH DOING IN RESPONSE TO COVID-19?

• We continue to monitor COVID-19 developments. To optimize coordination, communications and preparedness, we have formed an Outbreak Preparedness Task Force. This task force is focusing on preparedness plans.
• Our employees are required to follow stringent infection control policies.
• We follow CDC guidance when assessing patients/clients with a fever and lower respiratory symptoms, such as coughing or shortness of breath.
• Our employees who have symptoms of acute respiratory illness are required to stay home and not come to work until they are free of symptoms for at least 48 hours.

We have a highly skilled team of professional nurses. Rosary Home Health exclusively uses Registered Nurses for IV infusion therapy, and our on call nurse is available 24/7

COVID-19 is a respiratory disease and most infected people will develop mild to moderate symptoms and recover without requiring special treatment.

Fever

The Centers for Disease considers a person to have a fever measured temperature at least 100.4 °F [38 °C]

Coughing And Sneezing

This means you’ve started coughing repeatedly. As this is viral pneumonia, antibiotics are of no use.

These symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure.

Sore throat

Some of the most common causes of Corona virus is throat pain difficulty swallowing.

Shortness of breath

Shortness of breath and believe you have been exposed to coronavirus.

Emergency warning:

If you develop emergency warning signs for COVID-19 get medical attention immediately. Emergency warning signs include*:
  • Trouble breathing
  • Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
  • New confusion or inability to arouse
  • Bluish lips or face
